# How Jaaxis works

> Understand agents, knowledge, channels, conversations, bookings, and the Jaaxis Assistant before configuring your account.

Jaaxis separates customer-facing work from account management so each part has a clear purpose.

## Agent

An **agent** is the AI customer-service representative your customers talk to. Each agent has its own name, appearance, knowledge, behavior, channels, inbox, tools, bookings, and team access.

## Knowledge

**Knowledge** contains the facts an agent may use: products, services, policies, Q\&A, website pages, and uploaded files. Keep factual content here so you can update, search, schedule, or remove it without rewriting the agent's personality.

## Persona and forwarding rules

**Persona** controls tone, role, language preferences, and conversational behavior. **Forwarding rules** describe when a person should take over. They are not substitutes for product facts.

## Channels and conversations

A **channel** is where a customer talks with the agent, such as your website, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, LINE, or email. Messages from supported channels appear as **conversations** in the Jaaxis inbox.

## Tools and bookings

**Bookings** are a specialized workflow for showing availability and creating, confirming, changing, or cancelling reservations.

## Jaaxis Assistant

The **Jaaxis Assistant** helps merchants inspect and change Jaaxis through conversation. It is separate from customer-facing agents. It follows the same account roles and agent access rules as the dashboard.

## Jaaxis MCP

The operational Jaaxis MCP connects supported AI clients to your Jaaxis account. Its tools can inspect or change authorized agents. Mintlify's documentation MCP is separate and only searches these public help pages.
